Meet the breeder

I'm Hope G., the breeder behind Firelight Australian Shepherds located in Arlington, TX. We value responsible breeding practices. We enjoy participating in the show ring, and our Aussies are our companions in every adventure. We work hard to produce well-rounded puppies and excellent family pets! We offer to keep tail and dew clays with a deposit. We make copies all our health testing for your vet to review.

Q. & A. with Hope

  • Why did you start breeding?

When I was a kid we rasied hunting dogs. As I became an adult I fell in love with working dogs. Then I got a cutting horse in 1998 and fell in love with herding dogs! I have the best mentor breeders as friends and we all show together! Always learning new skills! Training Tip... Aussies want your trust, give them 100% in 18 months... you'll be thrilled for life!
  • What makes your program special?

I'm in no hurry to produce pups for sale! My top priority is my dog's overall temperaments, health and nutrition. Passing down excellent traits, temperament, and genetics to future generations! We are pleased to say all our dogs are all titled Champions! We socialize daily in our program. Our Vet is very pleased with our care and our Homemade Canine Nutrition Program has proved amazing!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Working with Hope was so easy and a wonderful experience! We are so happy with our puppy Watson and he’s the best boy! Her communication while we waited to get him was great with pictures, videos, and updates on how he was doing up until pick up. Her binder was incredibly helpful in feeding him, getting him the rest of his required shots, and much more. This is the first puppy we have raised and she made it very manageable and always answered our questions. We love our little firelight Australian shepherd and highly recommend them!

First and foremost, Hope is an absolute angel. We are so grateful to have met such an amazing person and friend through this process. My mom’s beloved Australian Shepherd, Bandit, passed away about a year ago from aggressive splenic cancer at only eight years old. Living alone on a large property, Bandit was more than just a pet; he was an essential partner in her way of life and her best friend. Losing him left a massive void. Hope was incredibly responsive and hand-selected the perfect dog for my mom’s lifestyle: Maverick. Though he is only three months old, Maverick arrived already knowing 'sit,' 'shake,' 'no,' and 'come.' He possesses the maturity and temperament of a much older dog. What truly sets Hope and Donny apart is their compassion. When an unexpected, expensive breakdown put my mom in a financial bind, she feared she would have to give up the chance to bring Maverick home. Hope did everything in her power to make it work, proving she is so much more than just a breeder. After one of the toughest years of her life, my mom has a 'glow' again. Everyone around her has noticed the difference; she now has a reason to look forward to every single day. Hope and Donny didn't just provide a dog; they helped mend the scars of a heartbreaking loss. Their dedication to nutrition, health, and bloodlines is unmatched. They are the furthest thing from a puppy mill—they love these dogs like their own. Thank you, Hope and Donny, for everything.

The Fire in Our Experience What truly shone during our time with Firelight Australian Shepherds was the extraordinary level of detail, care, and thoughtfulness woven into every aspect of the adoption process. This wasn't simply a transaction—it was a genuine endeavor to find loving forever homes for these remarkable puppies. Firelight shared our commitment to finding the perfect fit, ensuring our sweet girl would join a family dedicated to providing her with a lifetime of love and cherished memories. Her bright, joyful personality has adapted beautifully to our home, bringing energy and affection into our daily lives in ways we never imagined. The Health Foundation The comprehensive resources Firelight provided were invaluable in preparing us to care for our new family member. The detailed binder included everything we needed to feel confident and equipped—complete lineage information, thoughtful food suggestions, current shot records, and fascinating details about our girl's parents. The Canine Nutritional Health program gave us a solid foundation for understanding her dietary needs from day one. These resources weren't just informative; they reflected Firelight's deep commitment to setting both puppies and families up for long-term success and wellbeing together. Donny and Hope were so wonderful to work with throughout the entire process—we were honestly sad when it was over because we so enjoyed spending time with them! Erin and Mike Clark

Hope is incredibly knowledgeable about Australian Shepherds, which made me feel completely confident choosing her as a breeder. From the very beginning, it was clear how deeply she cares about the breed and how thoughtfully she chooses the families for her pups. My puppy, Dolce, is the calmest and smartest little dog, and I truly believe that’s a reflection of the love, care, and dedication Hope puts into raising her puppies.

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience than the one we had with Hope and her husband Donnie. From the very first conversation, you could feel how much love and care they pour into what they do. They treat each puppy like their own baby, and it shows in every way. They were always patient, kind, and happy to answer our questions, making the entire process feel easy and reassuring. Our Australian Shepherd, Hachi, is healthy, well-adjusted, and full of love, which is a true reflection of how he was raised. We are beyond grateful to have found such genuine, caring people, and we will always recommend Hope and Donnie to anyone looking for a breeder who truly puts their heart into their puppies.

Hope was wonderful to work with! She was quick to share helpful tips and readily answered any questions I had. She was extremely kind and welcoming when we picked up Chip and happily provided us with important information specific to his breed! Hope and Donny sent us home with a binder full of detailed feeding options, health records, and other important paperwork along with a care package of home-cooked meals, high quality kibble, dog waste bags, and a leash, setting my boy up for success with an easy transition into my home! I am so happy with my decision to work with them to get Chip, I cannot recommend Firelight Australian Shepards enough!
